Directv SWM Expander E2 … Can you use w / the SWM5 and SWM8?

Having cabling problems to my parents' house. They said they could use two SWM Expander SWM5 and E2. I'm trying to run 5 HD DVR, and 4 HD, but does not work. I agree with the signal meter hunting dog, but I am encouraging chicken (0) transponder each other. WILL BE SWM5 work W / SWM Expander? Please help .. Thanks
